The Eclipse (1907)
9m 51s
A true feast of George Méliès' fantastic imagination, THE ECLIPSE, OR THE COURTSHIP OF THE SUN AND MOON is a great example the director's late-work featuring superimpositions, rolling scenery and spectacular pyrotechnics for the time.
A professor of astronomy lectures a class on an impeding eclipse. Viewing through a telescope, we are transported to the wondrous event as the eager and slightly sensual sun and moon come together. Following is a glorious, otherworldly show of the wandering stars that shower down and collide with one another.
